Novell's GroupWise¬ø 5 User's Handbook
by Shawn B. Rogers
This book provides fine user-level documentation of GroupWise 5, Novell's proprietary workgroup collaboration solution. Because GroupWise has all the quirks of any complicated piece of network software, this documentation is necessary to keep users off the backs of administrators. Rogers and McTague begin by orienting users in the GroupWise environment, explaining the purpose of each region of the program's window and cataloging the fundamentals of navigation. The book then moves on to explain the specific procedures involved in tasks such as sending e-mail messages, creating address-book entries, and making personal and group schedules. Readers learn how to set up mail filters and how to sort messages into various storage folders. The authors give plenty of attention--deservedly--to GroupWise's Document Management System (DMS). Readers learn all they need to know about DMS, including the step-by-step procedures required to post and download documents. The book's concluding chapters address customization and the mechanics of using GroupWise remotely. This is not an administrator's book, and so it contains nothing at all about what happens on the server side. Still, this book excels as a user-level tutorial and reference.
